July 12th Pickup

Hello CSA and Friends of Shalom Orchard,

Well, it is finally hot!  No complaining from us after all the rain, rot
and slugs! I am continuing to use this “reply all” format as my regular
computer is out for repairs.

It looks like we will have available this week:  ( I don;t have the prices
yet)

some brocolli
Napa cabbage
Primax early cabbage (a “regular” cabbage)
garlic scapes
lettuce mix
peas
beet greens
scallions
raspberries!!
chicken
eggs

The cherries will be ripe soon, too.

For those thinking ahead, our blueberries will probably begin at the end
of July.  I have heard that some berries are already ripening in other
areas, but our barren is low and hydrated by the early morning fogs.  This
means our berries will have time to ripen more slowly and develop higher
sugar levels - yum!  Don’t forget to get your frozen berry order in early
as it is first come, first served.

For those of you who skipped the July 5 pickup, please keep track and
remind us of when you would like to make that up.

We look forward to seeing you Wed., 3-5:30.

Thank you,

Charlotte and Jim

July 5th Pickup

Hello CSA and Friends of Shalom Orchard,

Thank you, Lucia, for saving me from having to reconstruct the CSA email list!

It was so wonderful to see all of you last Saturday!!  What a perfect day to begin our CSA season.  We enjoyed meeting all the new folks, and to finally be starting up, at last. For us, this is what we are working for - seeing people connect with the food we grow.   We hope you are enjoying the first veggies of the season!

Some of you have said that you want to wait until 7/12 to pick up again, rather than come back this Wed., 7/5.  In that case, you can make up your share at any time later in the season, or use it to stock up on chicken or something else.

If you do want to pick up again this Wed., we will have most of the sameveggies, but not brocolli.  Since we harvested so recently, it is a good week to get chicken and eggs.

PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU ARE COMING FOR PICKUP THIS WED., and if you want chicken and eggs or any other product we have, so we can get started on your order before you arrive.  Again, pickup will be between 3-5:30 PM.

Thank you,

Charlotte and Jim
