August 1 Pickup

Dear CSA and Friends of Shalom Orchard,

August and blueberries are upon us!! Who can believe it’s already here. We never feel “ready” to start blueberries, but we hope to start raking Thursday, so we should have blueberries for next week! Also, squash and beans are blooming, so those will be ready soon.

Having had a wonderful week with my grandkids and a week off from my other “work work”, I feel rejuvenated. Sadly, Sarah Charlotte will be leaving us Thursday. She has been a wonderful helper and I feel blessed to have had this time with my niece. Hopefully, she will return next summer! Again, we would not be able to do this without the help of our excellent crew, Khimba, Audrey, Erin and Jessica!! They are holding up well and maintain their cheerful attitude, thank you! thank you! We are looking forward to Molly joining us during blueberries – many of you know our wonderful Molly from the past two years. We also want to thank Sarah Dufresne who was with us last week for an internship. She works with my son, Ben, in Connecticut, and hopes to have her own farm/restaurant someday. We hope she will come up next summer for a 6 week internship as part of her college major in nutrition.

OK, here goes:

raspberries

potatoes

beets with greens

radishes

baby carrots

cabbages

onions

lettuce

basil

broccoli (very little is available – it is resting)

peas

chicken

eggs

Thank you all so very much for your support of our farm and local, organic food!

Charlotte and Jim
