Dear CSA and Friends of Shalom Orchard,
We have some new faces here at the farm. Jessie is a family friend and is very interested in becoming a farmer. She is 15 and attends a high school in Connecticut that has an agricultural program. She is particularly interested in animals, but is working very hard here in all aspects of the farm. She will be here for a couple more weeks and we are so grateful for her work and we are enjoying teaching her what we can. On Thursday Heater Main will join us for a couple of weeks as a WWOOFer. She hails from Eskimo country of Canada and attends college in Toronto. We look forward to meeting her. It is so wonderful to have the extra hands for blueberry season!
This week we are adding beans! We hope to have cukes, but having enough to distribute is iffy. Order them if you want them and we will see what we have. We also have cherry tomatoes in small quantities. We are pulling the garlic, so we have fresh garlic available this week. We have shelling peas as well as edible pod peas. We hope to have summer squash next week. We are also adding some processed products: blueberry jam and our famous pesto!
Be sure to place your orders for bulk frozen blueberries. They are $3.25/# and come in 5# bags.
CSA will be picking up on Wednesdays from 3:00 to 5:30 PM. We are promoting more sales from the farm this year, so for those of you who might just like to come by and pick up something that looks interesting, please come anytime. John Pierce of Harmony Mill Dairy in Waltham is willing to fill orders on his delicious products and deliver them here, so please email me if you want me to order from him any week. You don’t have to be in the CSA to order. Please reply to this email with your order.
