CSA pickup for Wednesday, July 28, 2010

Dear CSA and Friends of Shalom Orchard,

Here it is, the end of July and time for blueberries again!! They are a bit early this year, as is most everything. This is the time to place your bulk orders for frozen blueberries. We will be raking and freezing berries and they will be available for pickup in early September. It is good to get your orders in now as we never know how many berries we will end up with.

For those of you who pick up at COA: I will be making the delivery to the college on WEDNESDAYS at 5:00 PM, rather than Thursdays at 4:00. I will park close to Turrets.

We will be welcoming a new WWOOFER, Steph, tonight. She will be with us for 2 weeks.

From Harmony Mill Dairy: John Pierce will drop off orders for Wed. pickup. We do this just as a convenience. If you don’t know Harmony Mill Dairy, it is a small dairy in Waltham. The milk is unpasteurized and comes in returnable 1/2 gal. bottles. John Edwards carries this milk as well as other natural food stores. These products do not count as part of your share, they are paid for separately.

CSA pickup for Wednesday, 7/21/10

Dear CSA and Friends of Shalom Orchard,

How quickly the summer is flitting by! We hope all of you are enjoying to the fullest! We are in the “weed stage” of the season. Lots of time is spent pulling weeds, in addition to harvesting. I am so grateful to our dedicated workers here! Alex Scarlotos, the son of one of our CSA families will be with us for the next 3 weeks, while his family is at camp at Abrams’ Pond. He has worked here for a couple of years and we look forward to his help again this year!

So here goes for this week:

CSA Pickup 7/14/10

Hello CSA and Friends of Shalom Orchard,

The rain yesterday was very welcome and it is good to see the sun again today! What a great growing season!! We are fortunate to have Jason and Lily join us – they are WWOOFers and will be here for two weeks.

We are picking up lamb this week and I have listed the prices below. Some of you have asked about lamb and now we have it! It will be frozen when we pick it up from the butcher.

Jason and Lily will deliver the COA pickup at 4:00 PM at the Turrets parking lot.

So here goes for this week:
