CSA pickup – 7/7/10

Hi Everyone, I have only heard from about half of you. Please read and respond. Thank you, Charlotte

Hello CSA and Friends of Shalom Orchard,

We hope everyone had a wonderful and restful Fourth of July!!

The first pickup went well, special thanks to Alice and MacKenzie for their hard work! We were glad to meet some of the new folks and see old friends! Saturday Jim took two lambs to the butcher, so their will be lamb available for next week. I will post the cuts and prices then. I am repeating instructions for pickup below:

So this is how it works: I will list the products available for next Wed. along with the MOFGA prices. They publish a monthly price list based on Maine organic farms’ prices. We usually go by the wholesale prices in the list. You figure out what you would like to order based on your weekly share amount ($10, 20, 30/week, etc). You can always go over your weekly share, if we have availability, and pay by check or cash. PLEASE REPLY TO THIS EMAIL. If you have further questions, please don’t hesitate to ask! Pickup at the farm is between 3-5:30 PM on Wed. Someone will bring the COA orders down Thursday afternoon around 4:00 PM in the South Entrance parking lot, near the gate.

I need to add your phone numbers to my address book. Please send me your numbers in this reply. Thank you!

So here goes:

pie cherries $5/quart, 3/pint raspberries 4/half pint sugar snap peas 2.50/half # beet greens 3/bu garlic scapes(the curled seed pod) 2/bu scallions 2/bu mixed baby lettuce 2/quarter # new potatoes 2.50/half # ?radishes 2/bu baby carrots 2/bu sunchokes (Jerusalem artichokes) 3/#

From Harmony Mill Dairy: John Pierce will drop off orders for Wed. pickup. We do this just as a convenience. If you don’t know Harmony Mill Dairy, it is a small dairy in Waltham. The milk is unpasteurized and comes in returnable 1/2 gal. bottles. John Edwards carries this milk as well as other natural food stores. These products do not count as part of your share, they are paid for separately.

whole milk 2.50/1/2 gal skim 2.50/1/2 gal bottle deposit (one time) 2.75 cream 2.00/1/2 pint ricotta 3.50/#, 2.00/1/2# cheddar (mild or sharp) 6.50/# ricotta-salada 2/1//2 # marscapone (unsweetened) 6.50/#, 3.50/1/2 #

There may be some surprises!

Thank you and we look forward to seeing you on Wed. between 3:00 – 5:30 PM for those of you that will pickup at the farm! Charlotte
