Hello CSA and Friends of Shalom Orchard,

Sunday we made about 100 gal of delicious sweet cider. I have reserved some for all of you so come on out and get it or contact me to deliver to Ellsworth and Bangor. We also have chicken available. We have chard, leeks, and potatoes. Let me know if you are coming by and I’ll get food ready for you. We are giving the winter squash and pumpkins the benefit of this warm spell, but will harvest those next week.

We will be making cider again on Monday, Columbus Day, so come by and watch or help! I will miss our usual Wednesday pickup today!

Bangor folks – email me with special requests and I’ll bring your last share delivery this Friday. Jim G., I believe you still have blueberries coming. How many did you order and can you keep them frozen if I bring them up on Friday? Dick, I know you want two whole chickens.

I would like to begin to collect the names of prospective new CSA members. Some of you have given me names and others have just mentioned “a friend”. Please give me the info so I can contact them for possible membership for next year. Also, I want to collect your feedback on this season as I am beginning to plan for next year. What did you like, what do you want more of, new varieties, better ways of operating the CSA?? Also, please send in those great recipes you all have out there before you forget!

It is hard to believe the season is almost over. You have been a wonderful support system to this farm! Thank you for helping to make this a wonderful year for Shalom Orchard and Winery!
